Ridgway Children’s Services aspires to provide a stable, supportive and stimulating environment through which young people have opportunites to achieve their full academic and social potential.

Individual education programmes are planned to offer maximum opportunites for educational achievement for young people with emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. Education offers a broad and balanced curriculum, which enables all children access to GCSE and other models of attainment.

Residential and education teams plan and work collaboratively; liaise closely with families and work in partnership with local authorities in order to maximise opportunities for re-integration.

During Key Stage 4 children may choose a supported F.E. college day release programme, linked to nationally validated qualifications, and pursue an individually tailored work experience programme that may also be linked to an ‘early start’ modern apprenticeship.

We believe that all young people have the right to become active and independent members of society and, to this end, we promote ‘life skills’ as part of an integrated 24 hour curriculum, offering a wide range of focused activities in education, during evenings, weekends and holiday periods.

The Curriculum also places equal value on communication skills, individualised learning and independent living skills.
